Memory Up With You Tonight by Kurumi-Lover Memory Up With You Tonight by Kurumi-Lover
Master, I need at least 600kb more memory of your active molecules.

It's like watching Kurumi and Chobits if they were mushed together.
P.S. I tried my hardest emulating the anime's artstyle, so YES, their noses are that low and YES their foreheads are that huge.

Steel angel + chobits, some reason that never came to me. xD Thinking about it though, her outfit in the pic does reminds me of what Uruka wore in season 2 of kurumi. xD Also what Bko wore in Project A-ko.

It's true though, right? XD And yeah, I love battle suits like those! B-ko's suit was a cooler design, and Uruka's was really clunky, but totally fit in that theme. I kinda wanna draw a picture of all 3 girls in their weird bikini armors shooting missiles and stuff now hahaha

Holy cpu, now there's a series I haven't heard of in YEARS! Shintani was behind Area 88 too, right?

AAAHh!! I'm so happy when I hear people have heard of this series (event though technically, I guess it's hentai (but it's so tame aahh))
Yeah, Shintani sure did! I only got into this series since Yuriko Chiba did the anime chara designs and animation direction and I love her soo <3
Another Shintani work that's a lot of fun is Cleopatra DC if you've seen that one

:aww: I only managed to watch the first episode years ago -- I think Animerica reviewed it not so favorably, but I thought the art style was cute and up my alley, so I checked it out. Plus, it was Shintani and I LOVEEEE Area 88. (Why was it never finished, VIIIIIIZZZ) While Buttobi CPU was weird XD at least it wasn't malicious like so many other hentai -- and yeah, really tame compared to most!

Yuriko Chiba sounds really familiar wut?  She did a fantastic job adapting the chara designs, that's for sure! And I remember the ads for Cleopatra DC! I never saw it though. That one never attracted me, even with Shintani's name attached to it XP;;

Cleopatra is a silly anime, I originally bought it just because the anime's character designer did a PHENOMENAL job keeping the art as close as possible the source material. And it was great that it didn't suffer a problem like Gunsmith Cats OVA where the first episode is like a direct rip from the manga (in terms of art and style (thank goodness Kenichi Sonoda also works in anime)), but then the last 2 episodes are like "brrrt" (idk what that sound is)

Yuriko Chiba is one of the founders of OLM studios (behind Pokemon, Berserk, ToHeart) and she was character designer/head animator for series like Steel Angel Kurumi, ToHeart, Figure 17. She's a legit influence on my work, and I wish I could emulate her work to a t, but then it wouldn't be my own art anymore I fee ; n ;

I'm sorry I keep geeking out on my replies. It's fun to talk to an oldschool fan who knows things ; v ; hahaha. I'm over here at FUNi trying to talk to co-workers about anime and most of them only started watching a couple years ago or so and it's sad d:

Hahaha, it's no problem! I LOVE talking to fellow old school fans :D The Internet has made it harder to find us, because most people only talk about new or relatively two-year old anime constantly -- to the point of saying classics are boring or bad :\ It's only this year I found someone wearing a Bubblegum Crisis shirt at a con and we spent like half an hour just talking about the old AnimEigo releases! (Very surprised but also not @ your co-workers being new to anime. :\ )

I'm ashamed to admit that the only thing I can remember from the Gunsmith Cats OVA is the opening ^^; I thought it was amazing, haha. Does Sonoda still work in anime? I believe he's still making those Chosen Ame doujinshi, right?

Dude, SERIOUSLY??? :O I LOVED the designs for Kurumi and To Heart! I didn't even realize it until now they were by the same person, they had something different in their respective series XD; Aw man. I have such a goofy grin on my face right now, haha. I know what you mean by emulating her work -- I wish I could be able to draw like Atsuko Ishida, especially in her layouts! But yeah then it wouldn't be our style? Then again, I admit to using a little Gotoh in my shading style haha :XD:

Talking to old-school fans is THE BEST honestly; it always ends up sounding a little biased, but with the range of art and stories that anime used to have back in the 80's and 90's to the cookie-cutter moe goop "Is this the same show or something different?" of today where everything is highschool harem or something (though, honestly, the last few seasons of anime have been pretty promising in suddenly diving into original (!!!) ideas again)

Other than a few scenes here and there, Gunsmith Cats OVA is a little forgettable (though, the manga kicks some serious ass). The opening was pretty badass, and to this day I still joke that Cowboy Bebop ripped it off d:

Yeah, man! Yuriko Chiba is the best, and I get WAY too happy seeing her work on stuff to this day. We just recently released an anime called "Maria the Virgin Witch" here at FUNi, and as soon as I saw the art, I was like "YURIKO CHIBA" and almost died to find out I was right hahaha.
Atsuko Ishida, like co-character/pokemon designer on Pokemon? Or is it someone else? Coz I'm gonna feel like a fool XD
AND ARE WE TALKING ABOUT KEIJI GOTOH? He directed an anime series I worked on recently called "Endride" and it was funny seeing his chara designs used on incidental background characters who weren't important ahahaha (You can just tell with his proportions on faces, and how the eyes and noses correlate, I swear)

I use so many parenthesis when talking; I think I need to fix this

The problem I have is,... when you push in too far,... all of that disc drive equipment that you see the expansion chips go into.... has to REALLY hurt.

Yeah, with them showing all the equipment inside, it's really weird to think about how it all works anyway hahaha

You did a great job in emulating the art style of the show! :nod: It could easily pass for a re-launch of the series!
I love Buttobi!!CPU since it's such a great example of ecchi/softcore being interesting while still keeping to its overall theme. I'm just sad that the anime only got 3 episodes made instead of a full series. I would've loved to see how the series ended.

Ahhh, thank you so much! It makes me excited that you've commented on the last 2 pictures knowing full-well what they are because OLD SCHOOL RULES OKAY. And thank you so much for the comment, that really means a lot to me that you think it looks like the show ; v ;. It is sad that it was that short, but honestly I feel like if it had followed the manga any more it would've been wierd/bad d: hahaha

You're very welcome! :XD: I only really comment on fanart when it's of a series I truly seen and loved, and I agree with you about old school. :nod: My anime exposure was pretty much stuff from the 1990s and a little of the early 2000s at a Blockbuster about 4 blocks from my house. :XD: So, I'm kinda biased when it comes to comparing the good new stuff to the good old stuff.
You're very welcome again. :nod: I've only read around the first couple chapter of the manga online, so I have no idea where the series goes or where the anime would've gone, had the anime staff kept at the series. I will say that I prefer the anime's art style over the manga's, though. It just... looked better to me (but maybe it's because I saw the anime first). ^^;
